Feng Shui Bagua Map Areas should be defined for the house in order to know which zones should be enhanced, or paid more attention to. This can improve a corresponding area of life.
The Magic Square of Feng Shui
A Chinese emperor Yu Xia (2205–1766 B.C.), was managing irrigational works to save the country from a flood. One day he saw a huge turtle coming out of the Yellow River waters, with a magic pattern on its shell. The nine symbols of the pattern made up numerals. These numerals, in their turn, created what was later named a Magic Square, and a Bagua Map. The sum of numbers of each row of the numerals is always equal to 15, in any direction:
- 4 - 9 - 2
- 3 - 5 - 7
- 8 - 1 - 6
The magic pattern from the turtle’s shell became one of the basic principles of Feng Shui – Bagua. A separate direction has been assigned to each of the Magic Square’s numerals. Combined together, they are the Bagua Map.
The Bagua Map Areas
The Bagua Map is used to define the Feng Shui areas of the house. Each numeral of the Magic Square, and each direction, correspondingly, is considered responsible for a particular aspect of human life.
- North. Feng Shui Career Area. The northern part of a house or a room is responsible for the person’s career. It is related to the water element of Feng Shui, and should be paid more attention to, if one wishes to be more successful at work.
- South-West. Feng Shui Love Area. The south-west of the house is related to love and romantic relationships. This direction helps women, attracts love, and strengthens relations with the loved ones. The earth element of Feng Shui rules in this area.
- East. Feng Shui Family Area. The east, which is related to Feng Shui wood element, helps to improve the family life, and relations with the relatives.
- South-East. Feng Shui Wealth Area. This direction is also supported by the wood element, and is responsible for the financial situation in the house, money, wealth, and prosperity of the family.
- The Center. Feng Shui Health Area. The center of the house is the most important area because it is responsible for the health of family members, first of all. However, the most vital function of this zone consists in harmonious joining of all the other areas around it.
- North-West. Feng Shui Mentors Area. The north-west is responsible for the presence of helpful people, who can assist and support the person. This direction is related to the metal element.
- West. Feng Shui Children Area. One of the functions of this direction is to support everything related to children in the person’s life. It’s additional task is enhancing creativity, communication, and self-expression. The metal element rules here.
- North-East. Feng Shui Knowledge Area. It is the area of knowledge, wisdom, and learning. It corresponds to the earth Feng Shui element, and is accountable for education and self-development.
- South. Feng Shui Success Area. South is the direction where success and fame reside. It is supported by the fire Feng Shui element, and can improve reputation, social life, as well as help with the plans for the future.
Feng Shui Magic Square, which is a square made up of 9 numerals, is the foundation of Feng Shui Bagua Map. This map, applied to a house, helps to define where the areas responsible for different aspects of life are located within the house. Use and enhance the natural qualities of Bagua areas to improve the particular aspects of life.
