Chi is unseen by most people energy that flows through all the things in the world. However, for a dwelling it is important that these energy flows are favorable for the people that live in the house. In this sense it is not good when there is either lack or excess of Chi. Similarly, the qualities of the energy might have either negative (Sha Chi, Si Chi) or positive (Chen Chi) influence on people.
Sha Chi – Negative Feng Shui
An excess of the energy might work like a mountain stream – it dodges among the boulders and falls down in small waterfalls on the sharp banks. The waters flow fast, frequently change directions meeting the obstacles, and seethe in whirlpools. Such streams are aggressive and carry much of idle energy that vanishes in vain. The same can be said about the fast and aggressive flows of energy – such energy moves disorderly and uncontrollably, thus only harming your home and life. In the worst case the overactive energy flows can even nullify all your efforts devoted to improving the life. In Feng Shui the energy with such negative qualities is called Sha Chi.
Si Chi – Stagnant Feng Shui Energy
Energy characterized as slow and stagnant is called Si Chi in Feng Shui. Si Chi flows can be compared to a river mouth near the ocean – the river’s flow becomes slow and the water is muddied with silt. Such a river overflows along flat plains and the water stagnates in wetlands and meanders.
For a dwelling the energy with such qualities is too weak and oppressed as to create a positive atmosphere. In houses that experience and excess of Si Chi people become sluggish and apathetic because they feel the lack of liveliness and energy.
Chen Chi – the Most Positive Chi Type
Chen Chi is the name for the most balanced and favorable for people qualities of Chi energy. Flows of such energy can be compared to a river in the middle course. The bends of the riverbed are smooth, so the waters flow smoothly, though are strong and fast enough as to continuously move forward. Internal energy allows such waters to support the speed and direction of movement.
The energy of such quality is neither aggressive nor stagnant, like Sha Chi or Si Chi. Therefore, this type of Chi is the most favorable for people’s homes. It carries a balanced combination of Yin and Yang qualities, thus bringing people health, wealth and wellbeing.
There exist many ways of changing the quality of Chi to Chen Chi. However, if there is such an opportunity, always try to choose a home surrounded by smooth but active enough flows of Chi that might be recognized by the positioning of buildings and roads (mountains and rivers) around the house. If Chi around your home has a stable opportunity to move, accumulate and rest without becoming stagnant, the house will be a very good place for your harmonious and happy life.
